Landscaping San Diego

Landscaping San Diego has its own unique needs.  Below is quick schedule of what to plan to do each month of the year.

You will find January a good month for planting all types of nursery stock, but guard against frost damage in the Fog Belt and high altitudes.

In February, perennial clumps can be divided and reset this month.  Try to finish planting of bare-root shrubs.

In March, finish pruning and planting trees and shrubs this month, and continue to sow seeds of annuals and vegatables to complete your plan for San Diego.

April -Lawn building and lawn maintenance will fill much of your schedule now. In many areas of the state, short, dry spells will likely be common when San Diego.

Your plans for the month of May, while in San Diegowill depend on how much time you have, as much as on the season. You can clip,renovate, plant, and sow.
June brings the start of summer, you will be able to enjoy the fruitsof your prior plans.  Your largest job will be keeping ahead of the grass.

July brings high temperatures, and very strong winds in many areas. You will likely be kept busy with the garden hose.  You should also plant the fall and winter annuals you have chosen while San Diego.

In August you can take a break from  intensive planting during this dry month and concentrate more on grooming your garden.

September will be a time of renewal in most parts of the state, as you prepare for display of af fall flowers while landscaping San Diego.

October is also know as California's second spring - the rainy season is not far away.  Now is an excellent time to plant new shrubs and rebuild lawns.

In November contentrate on cleaning up the grounds and completing late-fall plantings.  Watch for frost warnings in colder sections.

In December you will want to start the annual winter pruning and spraying. You can still enjoy a few pleasant days that will be ideal for setting out any new plants.
